Time Cafe at Stump Cross is a well-pitched spot for a relaxed pit stop whether you’re exploring the fascinating Stump Cross Caverns or just passing through the rugged landscape of Greenhow Hill. As a café, it balances a welcoming, casual atmosphere with practical touches that locals and visitors appreciate, like ample seating both indoors and outside, and convenient cycle racks that hint at its popularity with bikers on the nearby B6265.

What stands out here is the straightforward comfort of the menu and genuinely good coffee. The flat whites and filter coffees come recommended, hitting just the right note for those wanting a quality caffeine fix after exploring or cycling. The breakfast and lunch options lean into hearty, familiar flavours with a menu that includes a Full English Breakfast, beef and ale pie, and a Cumberland hotdog, alongside lighter fare like avocado toast and savoury scones with chutney. Portions are generous and thoughtfully prepared, providing good value for sizable servings that satisfy well.

The vibe is friendly without fuss; staff take care to make everyone feel welcome, including families and visitors with accessibility needs. This relaxed approach extends to timing — the café accommodates both early breakfasts for those starting a day out and lunchtime crowds looking for a warm meal after a morning at the caves. Cakes and brownies offer a sweet finish or a tempting pause with a cup of tea.

Parking can be a bit tight, but free if you can find a spot, and overall the café fits naturally into its slightly remote setting — there’s little else nearby, which makes it a natural gathering point for both locals and visitors. Whether you’ve just finished touring the caverns, out on a bike ride, or simply need a peaceful place to refuel with a view, Time Cafe delivers a reliably pleasant and unpretentious experience that reflects the pace and character of this part of Harrogate.

After a tour along the cavern, we stopped for some lunch and it really topped the morning off. The food was really tasty, the cakes were yummy, the flat white coffee was spot on, the vanilla milkshakes were very yummy! And to big for the seven year old, so I got to enjoy 50% of it I had a steak ale pie and it was absolutely gorgeous, it didn't need anything else with it other than the gravy it came with, there was plenty of meat inside and it just melted in my mouth The views from the cafe are amazing and there are tables outside which would be a dream to sit at in warmer weather. Areas for the kids to play also and ice cream available Really nice staff, fast service and I would 100% recommend trying the menu here. We'll be back again the next time we are in the area. Thanks for having us

Wow, wow, wow, if I could give 6 stars I would. The food, drink, service and atmosphere was brilliant. Myself and a disabled guest were shown to our table and made to feel very welcome throughout our visit. The food was amazing, would highly recommend the hotdog. We will absolutely definitely be back again very soon.

Excellent cafe - stunning views, great menu, tasty food and coffee, and the friendliest staff I've ever come across! Discovered Stump Cross Caverns cafe for the first time when out on a bike ride over Greenhow today. You don't need to be visiting the caverns to go to the cafe. Cycle racks outside for bikes. Plenty of tables inside and out. We had breakfast and coffee, but they do lunch, main meals, cakes, and icecream as well which all looked lovely. There's lots of nice walks you could do from there as well.

Can't fault it; served decent drinks at a very reasonable pace, with a friendly smile. The cakes on display and the one we tried looked or were scrumptiously decadent. Nice to stop in as we were passing by. There is also very little else in the vicinity to choose from! Free parking outside if you can find a spot.

Great food here after visiting the caves. Prepared fresh, good portions and good prices. I had the pork and stuffing Yorkshire wrap with gravy. Knockout! Too full for cake so we took some away

We visited the Stump Cross Caves and spent a very exciting and adventurous time underground before having lunch in the Time cafe (and then had a breakfast a few days later). The service was fantastic, the menu was interesting and bold, the atmosphere was jovial and funky. But the food was absolutely stunning. If you’re looking for a great place to eat healthy and delicious food, visit and eat here. We tried the pie , falafels, soup, vegan quesadilla and then on our subsequent visit a large breakfast, small breakfast and vegetarian breakfast. It was so good we came back, and we now have the Time Cafe saved on our google maps .

We had a lovely afternoon here. Eat an amazing meal in their Time Out pod that looks over the countryside. The ribs were delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the caves were amazing. Rob the magician was there and give us a wonderful display of his magical skills - he really was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed his company. Will definitely come again if we're in the area.

Nick, Lisa & the rest of the team were great hosts - they made us feel so welcome. Oslo was fussed, given treats, and lots of cuddles - he loves it here! The breakfast was lovely, great quality! We will definitely be back.
